Today is the seventh day of Dashain, The Phulpati festival, which is celebrated every year on Ashwin Shukla Saptami under the Durga Paksha, is being celebrated in every house today by bringing flowers, a symbol of auspiciousness, according to the classical method.
Sugarcane, haldi, banana plant, rice ears, bel leaves, pomegranate, Jayanti, Ashoka flower and human tree are brought in the tenth house or worship room as a symbol of the auspicious site since the day of Ghatsthapana.
According to Prof. Dr. Ram Chandra Gautam former chairman of the Nepal Panchang Judging Committee and theologian, there is a Vedic method of worshiping Shakti according to the classical method as a symbol of the flower Navati Devi, also known as Navapatika.
"Brahmayani in banana, Raktadantika in pomegranate, Lakshmi in paddy, Durga in tumeric, Chamunda in Manbriskha tree, Kalika in sugarcane, Shiva in bel leaves, Shokarahita in Ashoka and Katiki in Jayanti are worshiped by invoking Goddess. After the flowers are brought in, all the nine goddesses are worshiped methodically. Theologian Gautam also informed that the site is not required for importing flowers.
There is a tradition of bringing flowers brought from the Gorkha district to Dashainghar of Hanumandhoka Durbar. There is a tradition of bringing six people of the Magar caste from Gorkha to Jeevanpur of Dhading district including priests of Dashainghar and six people of the Brahmin caste from Jeevanpur of Dhading district to Jamal of Kathmandu.
From Jamal to Hanuman Dhoka, high-ranking officials of the civil service, Gurju's platoon, band baja, panche baja and cultural dance songs are brought along with long queue.
According to the Hanumandhoka Durbar Museum Development Committee, the Minister of Culture will be present after the establishment of the republic as the head of state will be present at the Dashain Ghar of Hanumandhoka Durbar as long as the monarchy lasts.
This year's flowers are scheduled to arrive on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. The Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, members of the Kathmandu Provincial Assembly and local level people's representatives have been invited to the program, said Durbar Care Center.
